Customer service representative location: Ogba Lagos salary: 50k qualifications: OND/HND/BSC Application deadline: 28/03/2020 Job Description Customer service representatives work directly with customers and clients of all kinds of businesses. As the job title suggests, these workers represent their employer in dealings with customers and clients. Typical job responsibilities include:

Communicating with clients and customers about their experiences with a product or service Providing advice on purchasing products or services Answering client or customer questions about properly using or accessing a product or service Taking or processing orders for a product or service Listening to customer or client complaints or concerns and working to resolve their issues The United States Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that most customer service representatives do not engage in face-to-face contact with customers and clients, but instead respond to queries via telephone, email or live chat. However, in some industries, in-person communication is more likely to be the norm. Retail, for example, is one industry in which customer service representatives are likely to meet directly with clients.

Education Requirements According to the BLS, customer service representatives usually need to have at least a high-school diploma or a GED and receive on-the-job training that can last two to three weeks. In some industries, however, training programs for customer service representatives may take several months, as representatives may have to learn complex rules, laws and regulations.

There are some industry associations, as well as trade schools, that offer certificate programs in customer service. Customer service representatives may also participate in continuing education activities provided in-house or at industry conferences.

Certification and Licensing

In most cases, customer service representatives are not required to be licensed. The BLS notes, however, that some states may have laws that require representatives working in the insurance or finance industries to hold state licensure.
